I question myself as to whether I love God as much as I should as a Christian. I honestly don’t believe I know how to love. God is love that is His absolute nature. However, as a faulty human I know I am not worthy of God’s love because I am not capable to love God in return, and this frightens me. I want to love God because He loves me. I want to obey God because I know that my obedience would be a definite sign of my love for God. The last question that is asked at the end of the chapter states: “In what ways do you need God to help you love Him?” I need God to erase my doubt about whether I am worthy of eternal life with Him. I want to feel God’s love, and I don’t know how to achieve that. I know that I can’t be good or do good because God’s love is a free gift that I must accept; however, being human I don’t know how to accept His love when I don’t believe that I deserve His love. This is my dilemma. And, I need God to help me to love Him more.
